1. General Conduct

My car is fitted with dual controls and is fully insured for driving tuition. My training car is a no smoking and no vaping zone.
2. Driving Licence and Eyesight
You must hold a current and valid driving licence which must be produced on or in advance of your first driving lesson. You will need to generate a code by visiting www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence and follow the online instructions which will enable me to check your licence for any penalty points or disqualifications. I will need this code along with the last 8 digits of your driving licence.
You must be able to read a number plate at a distance of 20.5 metres (67 feet). If you need to wear glasses to be able to read the number plate then you must wear them on you lessons and during your driving test.
3. Safety, Comfort and Wellbeing
You are advised to wear suitable footwear and clothing which does not restrict movement. No flip flops.
It is important that you act responsibly at all times and give your full attention. If you are feeling uncomfortable or uneasy about any task please make me aware so we can discuss the matter.
In the event it becomes apparent that you are unable to concentrate due to illness, tiredness or you emotional state I reserve the right to end the lesson.
In an emergency situation it is important that you follow my instructions and allow me to take control of the steering wheel to avoid an incident. I may also need to use the dual controls and thus override your use of them. I will advise of you my actions and ensure that you understand the reason behind my intervention.
I will do my best to deliver instructions in a calm manner so as not to alarm you or make you feel uncomfortable.
You can be assured I will not shout at you or use any improper or suggestive language towards you.
4. Driving under the Influence
To ensure the safety of you and other road users I reserve the right to cancel any lesson if I suspect you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In this event you will still be charged the lesson.
5. Lesson Cancellations and Postponement
In the event that you need to cancel a lesson booked in my diary I would require a minimum notice period of 24 hours to avoid being charged for that lesson. If it is possible to rearrange that lesson for another day and time during that week that suits us both then no cancellation charge will be made. If I need to cancel your lesson for any reason including weather conditions then you will not be charged.
6. The Theory and Driving Test
You are responsible for booking your theory test at www.gov.uk/book-theory-test . It is not essential to have done your theory test before starting your lessons. The theory test certificate is valid for 2 years. If you have not passed your practical within 2 years you would have to pass another theory test.
You are responsible for booking your practical driving test at www.gov.uk/book-driving-test. You cannot book a practical test unless you have passed a theory test. You should check with me before booking your test to ensure that I am available to take you to the test
In the interest of safety I reserve the right to refuse the use of my vehicle if I believe you are not ready and that you could be a danger to others.
In the event that you wish to cancel or postpone your test you would need to allow 3 working days as required by the DVSA. Failure to provide such notice would result in the loss of your test fee and you would be required to book a new test. It may also be necessary for the DVSA to postpone tests in which case they would give you a new date and time which you could change if this new test is not convenient.
